Planning any event can be a daunting task, but organising an environmentally and socially responsible event can seem positively overwhelming. There are so many factors to consider. Travel. Catering. Waste management. Carbon offsets. However, at Greensense we have proven sustainable event management (SEM) methodologies that mean we can work with you to minimise the negative impacts of your event, while maximising the positive social, environmental and business outcomes.

Already have an event planned?

If you already have an event organised, don’t worry – we can still help you take some vital steps towards sustainability. Working with you and your suppliers, we’ll conduct an audit that looks at everything from water and energy usage, to how much waste and greenhouse gasses are generated. Armed with this data, we’ll then create a report and provide recommendations to help ensure your future events are more sustainable.

Planning your event?

On the other hand, if you’re in the early stages of planning, we can work with you to help your event achieve benchmark sustainability standards from the word go – our methodology has been developed based on internationally recognised BS8901 principles.

We’ll partner with you to create a holistic sustainability strategy. From setting goals and brainstorming solutions with your team, to executing sustainability best practice, we’ll guide you every step of the way. Planning. Implementation. Raising awareness among staff, suppliers, attendees and the community. Auditing the event and then reviewing our findings to help you develop your strategy.

More than simply helping you make carbon-conscious decisions, we’ll enable you to continuously improve event sustainability moving forward.

Case Studies

Spring in the valley

The Swan Valley Tourism CouncilThe Swan Valley Tourism Council organises the Spring in the Valley Festival, which attracts around 80,000 people every year to sample the region’s fine wines and foods.

The challenge

Where events pull large numbers of people to one location at the same time, there will always be an impact on the environment. In order to minimise this impact, we first need to understand it in detail.

How we helped

We were engaged to complete a sustainability audit for the event, collecting data on how people travelled, how much food and drink was consumed, and how much waste was generated.

The outcome

Once the impact of the event was quantified in terms of waste, water and greenhouse gases, we provided an easy-to-understand report and clear recommendations to reduce the festival’s overall environmental impact and improve the sustainability of future events.
