Southbound Music Festival

Sunset Events organises the three-day Southbound Music Festival, which attracts almost 20,000 people every year to Western Australia’s South West. Sunset Events have engaged Greensense as their Sustainable Event Management auditors and advisors.

The challenge

Most attendees have to travel at least 250km to the event from Perth, and the event attracts people from all around Australia. This makes travel one of the most significant sustainability challenges for the event.

How we helped

As part of our pre-event advisory service for the 2010 festival, we worked out that the attendee travel was going to be the biggest source of greenhouse gas emissions for the event and we suggested implementing festivalbudi.com to help people carpool to the festival.
